There are a variety of roles and responsibilities for participants of online learning environments.
First the administrators develop instructional strategies, procedures, instruct staff in best practices, develop and enforce policies. The developer of the course is knowledgeable in the chosen Learning Management System, creates learning activities that engage the learner, and is able to troubleshoot when the need arises. The technology team is a valuable group of people that are knowledgeable in the Learning Management System (LMS) as well as current technology. They also organize the professional development to ensure that the instructors are knowledgeable in the LMS and create learning materials. The facilitators approve courses and view the final grades. Teacher understand the course set up and use the Learning Management System (LMS) to create learning opportunities for students. They will also build a relationship with the students and parents. The parents role is to serve as a cobetween between the student and the teacher. They may sign students up for courses and communicate with the teacher and their child about the expectations of the course. They also check their child's progress and grades regular. Finally, students sign up for the course. Organize their learning and do the work required for the course. They monitor their progress and check their grades frequently.
